Hey so you folks may or may not know that both my parents are psychiatrists and have always been involved with supporting the research and treatment of conditions such as dementia and Alzheimer’s- this is something my dad was shown at a conference recently and he asked me to share it with you guys!

This is a short animation by Simon Ball which was funded by Created Out of Mind and the Alzheimer’s Society. It relates the experiences of people with Posterior Cortical Atrophy (PCA), a rare condition which some of you may recognise as the illness that the great author Terry Pratchett was living with until his death in 2015.

More about the film and PCA can be found here! Please consider giving it a look and sharing it with folks (also ignore the 8 minute timestamp it’s really more like 6 minutes, there are a lot of credits)- these conditions are very hard to live with and understand, and this film is a very beautiful and brave attempt to explore, explain and visually interpret the experience.

Here’s my animation for the opening credits of Castlevania without the bells and whistles of compositing.

Not only did I get to develop the style for this part, but it’s the only piece of animation in the show where my original drawings aired without any sort of clean up.

Out of everything I did for the first season of Castlevania, this was the part I had the most control over.
